01How it works
Add your positions
Each employer and role, month by month. PaceTracker counts your experience against the 48 months.
Rate yourself
Your own self-rating on each of the 22 competencies, so you can see where your experience is still thin.
Write examples with evidence
Situation, Actions and Outcome for each competency, one example at a time, with evidence from your private vault.
Read a review copy
Download a review copy PDF of everything you wrote, to read it through or share it with whoever you choose.
Paste into APEGA's CBAT
When you apply, you copy each example into APEGA's Competency-Based Assessment tool yourself. PaceTracker never sends anything to APEGA.

03Frequently asked questions
01What is the Competency Log for engineers-in-training?
A private log for EITs preparing the P.Eng. application with APEGA's Competency-Based Assessment: your work experience month by month, your own ratings on the 22 competencies, and Situation, Actions and Outcome examples you paste into APEGA's CBAT when you are ready. It is free to start; the full editor is planned at CAD $79 a year or $9.99 a month at launch. Self-ratings are your own assessment, not an APEGA assessment, and PaceTracker never sends anything to APEGA.
02Is my self-rating the same as an APEGA assessment?
No. Self-ratings are your own assessment. Only APEGA's Board of Examiners assesses competencies. PaceTracker compares your ratings with the minimums APEGA publishes, for your information only.
03Is PaceTracker affiliated with APEGA?
No. PaceTracker is an independent tool, not affiliated with or connected to APEGA. APEGA's Competency-Based Assessment Tool (CBAT) is the only submission channel: you paste your material there yourself.
04Does AI write my competency examples?
No. You write every Situation, Actions and Outcome yourself. The editor shows fixed guide questions and notes computed from your own text; PaceTracker uses no AI model, and your examples are not sent to one.
05What happens when I get licensed?
You keep the same account. Your record continues as a CPD Record under APEGA's PACE program, and your work experience and examples stay where they are.
06Does PaceTracker contact my validators?
Never. Validators are a list you keep for yourself, with the details you choose to add. APEGA contacts them itself after you submit your application.
07Where is my Competency Log stored?
In Canada (Montréal), with the rest of your account. You can export it or delete it with your account at any time.
