PACE is APEGA's continuing professional development (CPD) framework, in effect since November 1, 2025. APEGA-registered professionals plan, complete, and self-document their CPD activities, and keep the records ready in case APEGA requests them. PaceTracker is an independent tool for keeping that documentation organized — it is not affiliated with APEGA.

The framework sets a minimum of two CPD activities per annual period: at least one in the Technical category and at least one from another category (Regulatory, Ethical Practice, or Communication, Management & Leadership). Each activity needs a written explanation linking it to the skills identified in your PACE plan.

No — the learning modules are tracked separately from the activity minimum. Modules are completed on myAPEGA only; PaceTracker records your completion dates so they appear alongside your activities in the audit-ready export.

No. APEGA does not approve PACE plans. A plan is self-managed: you sign it, keep it with your records, and produce it if requested. PaceTracker reflects this — plans are marked Signed or Draft, and self-checks read Met or Not met. They are informational, not a compliance verdict.

No. PaceTracker is an independent self-documentation tool built for APEGA-registered professionals. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by APEGA. APEGA and myAPEGA are named only to describe what the tool helps you document.

Your records are stored in Canada (Montréal). Reminder emails are blind by design: they tell you a deadline is approaching and never contain your CPD data.

PaceTracker is free until paid subscriptions start. The planned price is CAD $79 per year, plus applicable tax.

The first 30 professionals who complete onboarding get 36 months free, counted from the day paid subscriptions start. Seats are assigned in order of onboarding completion, one per person, and are not transferable; your seat number is shown on your Account page. Early Bird months add to any referral credits. Once the 30 seats are taken the offer closes — PaceTracker stays free for everyone until subscriptions start.

Nothing is deleted. An expired subscription switches PaceTracker to read-only: creating and editing stop, but every record you documented stays readable and exportable — audit pack PDF and full data export (JSON) included. The Practice Review Board can request records from historic years, so your documentation is never held back. Deleting your account and data stays a self-serve action in your hands, at any time.

Yes. When paid subscriptions launch, cancellation will be self-serve from the Account page, at any time and with immediate effect at the end of the paid period: you keep full access until that date, no further charges are made, and afterwards your records stay readable and exportable. The first charge of your first subscription will have a 14-day refund window, and a renewal notice will be emailed before each renewal date.

The declaration happens in myAPEGA and can only be completed within the last two months of your CPD period, by your CPD due date. It confirms you created and followed a PACE plan and recorded your completed activities — the plan itself stays in your records unless APEGA requests it.

No. APEGA publishes an official template and recommends it, but any format is acceptable as long as the required content is covered. PaceTracker structures your plan around the same seven sections, with the required ones flagged — and signing freezes each version for your records.

All practising licensed professionals — professional engineers, professional geoscientists, professional licensees, and licensees — starting from the date of registration, not the first renewal. It does not apply to students, examination candidates, or members-in-training.

Probably not, and we would rather say so. According to APEGA's September 2026 notice, since August 24, 2026 a licensed professional who lives outside Alberta, practises mainly there, and is registered with the home jurisdiction's regulator can request an exemption from APEGA's CPD requirements in myAPEGA, provided they already meet that regulator's CPD. Eligibility is APEGA's decision (cpd@apega.ca). If you are exempt, your obligation is your home regulator's and an APEGA PACE record is not what you need. If you report under PACE, nothing changes.

As the standard states it: failing to comply results in a loss of good standing, after which a Practice Review Board review may be initiated — and inadequate documentation during that review results in cancellation of registration. Organized, retrievable records are the practical protection.

On November 1, 2026 — for each licensed professional at their next annual renewal date after that. The standard has been in effect since November 1, 2025, with the requirements assigned at each professional's first renewal after that date, so the first period actually assessed depends on your renewal month. APEGA's September 2026 notice states that a period whose learning modules and PACE declaration are not completed in myAPEGA by the renewal date is marked "non-compliant" in the registrant's history with APEGA.

Under the October 17, 2025 memorandum of understanding, all professional technologists [P.Tech.(Eng.)/(Geo.)] transfer from ASET to APEGA when both are continued under the Professional Governance Act, expected in March 2027. The designation merges with professional licensees into a single designation, with scope, independent practice rights, and renewal dates unchanged — and APEGA CPD applies after the transfer.

PaceTracker documents CPD under APEGA's PACE framework, which applies to APEGA-registered professionals.
