01Built around the PACE framework
PACE Plan builder
All seven sections with Required and Recommended flags, qualitative self-evaluation across the four categories, sign-off and revisions with version history. Signed versions are frozen at the database level.
Activities & evidence vault
Log formal and informal CPD with the written explanation linking each activity to your plan skills. A guided builder turns a few short answers into that paragraph, in your own words, with no AI. Attach certificates and notes to a private, per-user storage vault.
myAPEGA module dates
A per-period checklist of the mandatory learning modules. Modules are completed on myAPEGA only — PaceTracker records the dates for your files.
Audit pack export
One PDF per CPD period: your plan (signed version when available), activities with the evidence index, and module dates — with a self-check against the PACE minimums, for your information.
02Sign it once — it stays signed
Signing is the moment your plan becomes a record. From then on, that version is frozen at the database level: it cannot be edited or deleted — not by a bug, not by a bulk update, not by accident. When your practice changes, you revise into a new version, and every signed version stays exactly as it was.
A draft is yours to shape: sections, self-evaluation, skills.
03How it works
Set your renewal date
PaceTracker computes your CPD period, due date and declaration window from it — the same way APEGA does.
Plan, log, attach
Build and sign your PACE plan, then log activities through the year with explanations and evidence.
Declare with your records ready
When the declaration window opens, download your audit pack and declare in myAPEGA.

05Frequently asked questions
01What is the APEGA PACE framework?
PACE is APEGA's continuing professional development (CPD) framework, in effect since November 1, 2025. APEGA-registered professionals plan, complete, and self-document their CPD activities, and keep the records ready in case APEGA requests them. PaceTracker is an independent tool for keeping that documentation organized — it is not affiliated with APEGA.
02How many CPD activities does PACE require?
The framework sets a minimum of two CPD activities per annual period: at least one in the Technical category and at least one from another category (Regulatory, Ethical Practice, or Communication, Management & Leadership). Each activity needs a written explanation linking it to the skills identified in your PACE plan.
03Do the myAPEGA learning modules count toward the two-activity minimum?
No — the learning modules are tracked separately from the activity minimum. Modules are completed on myAPEGA only; PaceTracker records your completion dates so they appear alongside your activities in the audit-ready export.
04Does APEGA approve PACE plans?
No. APEGA does not approve PACE plans. A plan is self-managed: you sign it, keep it with your records, and produce it if requested. PaceTracker reflects this — plans are marked Signed or Draft, and self-checks read Met or Not met. They are informational, not a compliance verdict.
05Where is my CPD data stored?
Your records are stored in Canada (Montréal). Reminder emails are blind by design: they tell you a deadline is approaching and never contain your CPD data.
06Does PaceTracker use AI to write my records?
No. PaceTracker uses no AI model, and your records are not sent to one. For the written explanation of each activity, an optional guided builder asks a few short questions (what you did, which plan skills it supports, what you learned, how you will apply it) and composes a paragraph from your answers by fixed rules. You can edit every word before saving. If you choose to draft with an outside AI tool, the AI-assisted flag on the activity lets you record that.
07How much does the CPD Record cost?
PaceTracker is free until paid subscriptions start. The planned price is CAD $79 per year, plus applicable tax.
08What is the Early Bird offer?
The first 30 professionals who complete onboarding get 36 months free, counted from the day paid subscriptions start. Seats are assigned in order of onboarding completion, one per person, and are not transferable; your seat number is shown on your Account page. Early Bird months add to any referral credits. Once the 30 seats are taken the offer closes — PaceTracker stays free for everyone until subscriptions start.
09I am a Great White Shark Club member. How do I claim my seat?
Shark Club members of Great White Car Wash have 30 reserved seats, in addition to the Early Bird seats. Open pacetracker.ca/greatwhite, create your account from that page and complete the setup while the promotion is open: your seat is assigned when the setup is complete, in order of completion, and shows on your Account page. Each seat gives 36 months of service credit, counted from the day paid subscriptions start; it adds to any referral credits. If the reserved seats are already taken, you get an Early Bird seat while those remain. Great White Car Wash has no access to your PaceTracker data.
10Can I cancel my subscription at any time?
Yes. When paid subscriptions launch, cancellation will be self-serve from the Account page, at any time and with immediate effect at the end of the paid period: you keep full access until that date, no further charges are made, and afterwards your records stay readable and exportable. The first charge of your first subscription will have a 14-day refund window, and a renewal notice will be emailed before each renewal date.
11When can I complete my CPD declaration?
The declaration happens in myAPEGA and can only be completed within the last two months of your CPD period, by your CPD due date. It confirms you created and followed a PACE plan and recorded your completed activities — the plan itself stays in your records unless APEGA requests it.
12When is my APEGA CPD due?
On the last day before your annual renewal date: October 31, 2026 for a November renewal, November 30, 2026 for December, December 31, 2026 for January, and so on. By then the assigned myAPEGA learning modules and the PACE declaration have to be completed; APEGA's CPD page states there are no extensions. Your exact date is on your myAPEGA dashboard, and our deadlines guide lists every renewal month.
13Does a PACE plan have to use APEGA's template?
No. APEGA publishes an official template and recommends it, but any format is acceptable as long as the required content is covered. PaceTracker structures your plan around the same seven sections, with the required ones flagged — and signing freezes each version for your records.
14Who does the PACE framework apply to?
All practising licensed professionals — professional engineers, professional geoscientists, professional licensees, and licensees — starting from the date of registration, not the first renewal. It does not apply to students, examination candidates, or members-in-training.
15I report my CPD to the regulator of another province. Is PaceTracker for me?
Probably not, and we would rather say so. According to APEGA's September 2026 notice, since August 24, 2026 a licensed professional who lives outside Alberta, practises mainly there, and is registered with the home jurisdiction's regulator can request an exemption from APEGA's CPD requirements in myAPEGA, provided they already meet that regulator's CPD. Eligibility is APEGA's decision (cpd@apega.ca). If you are exempt, your obligation is your home regulator's and a CPD record under APEGA's PACE program is not what you need. If you report under PACE, nothing changes.
16What happens if CPD records are inadequate?
As the standard states it: failing to comply results in a loss of good standing, after which a Practice Review Board review may be initiated — and inadequate documentation during that review results in cancellation of registration. Organized, retrievable records are the practical protection.
17When does APEGA start enforcing the revised CPD standard?
On November 1, 2026 — for each licensed professional at their next annual renewal date after that. The standard has been in effect since November 1, 2025, with the requirements assigned at each professional's first renewal after that date, so the first period actually assessed depends on your renewal month. APEGA's September 2026 notice states that a period whose learning modules and PACE declaration are not completed in myAPEGA by the renewal date is marked "non-compliant" in the registrant's history with APEGA.
18What happens to P.Tech. professionals in 2027?
Under the October 17, 2025 memorandum of understanding, all professional technologists [P.Tech.(Eng.)/(Geo.)] transfer from ASET to APEGA when both are continued under the Professional Governance Act, expected in March 2027. The designation merges with professional licensees into a single designation, with scope, independent practice rights, and renewal dates unchanged — and APEGA CPD applies after the transfer.
